Direct Transfer Film

What is DTF?

Direct-to-Film (DTF) Printing is a revolutionary method in the world of garment decoration, offering unparalleled quality and versatility for custom t-shirt printing.

Unlike traditional printing methods, DTF printing involves printing designs onto a special film, which is then transferred onto the fabric using a heat press.

This process allows for vibrant, full-color prints with exceptional detail and durability. It typically consists of a thin, flexible film with a heat-activated adhesive on one side and a printable surface on the other.

6 easy steps for Direct Transfer Film process

1. Design Creation
Start with a high-resolution digital design using graphic design software. Ensure the design is in the correct size and format for printing.
2. Printing the Design

Load the special DTF film into the printer. The printer uses water-based pigment inks for vibrant and detailed prints. Apply a layer of adhesive powder to the printed film while the ink is still wet. This powder helps the design adhere to the fabric.

3. Curing the film

Place the printed and powdered film in a curing oven or use a heat press to melt the adhesive powder. This step ensures that the powder bonds with the ink on the film.

4. Preparing the Fabric

Ensure the fabric (t-shirt, hoodie, etc.) is clean and wrinkle-free. Pre-press the fabric for a few seconds using a heat press to remove any moisture and smooth out any wrinkles.

5. Transferring the design
Use a heat press to transfer the design from the film to the fabric. Apply the required temperature, pressure, and time as specified by the DTF film manufacturer.
6. Peeling the film

After pressing, let the fabric cool down slightly. Carefully peel off the film from the fabric, leaving the design perfectly transferred onto the fabric.
